Sai Baba of Shirdi, also known as Shirdi Sai Baba, is regarded by his devotees as a Saint and a Fakir. Om Sri Sai Nathaaya Namaha” (Lord Sai) is known for many of his miracles. Here are a few of his divine Miracles.

Miracle of Sai Baba Turning Water into Oil

When Sai baba was in Dwarkamai every night he would light diyas (earthen lamps) For the lamps he would ask the village grocers to give him oil. The grocers saw baba as a fakir so they used to give him oil. But soon they got fed up with Baba asking them for oil and the grocers stopped giving baba oil. With the empty oil, tin baba returned to Dwarkamai. He added little water in the tin and drank it, then he took more water, poured it in the diyas, and lit them up one by one the water lamps were lit throughout the night. This was the night when the people in the village began to believe in the miraculous powers of Sai Baba.

Miracle of Sai Baba and Chand Bhai’s Horse

‘Dhoopkhede’ a small village in Aurangabad district, in Maharashtra in which there lived a man named Chand Bhai who was the Patel of that village. One fine day he lost horse. Chand Bhai looked and searched for his horse everywhere in the village. Chand Bhai looked for his horse almost 14 Koss (42km almost) but was disappointed as he couldn’t find his horse. While wandering around he came across a fakir who was sitting under a mango tree, The fakir had a cap on his head, who was wearing a ‘Kafni’ (long robe) and had a ‘Satka’ (short stick). The Fakir asked Chand Bhai about the saddle he was holding in his hand. Chand Bhai replied sadly that it was of his horse which is lost. The Fakir asked worried Chand Bhai to search for his lost horse near the Nala close by. He went there and the wonder of wonders! He found his horse. Chand Bhai was overwhelmed and he thought this fakir was not any ordinary man, but a Holy saint. He requested the Fakir to come to his home and accept his hospitality. After some days there was a marriage ceremony in Chand bhai’s house; the marriage procession happened in Shirdi. The Fakir also accompanied the marriage ceremony. When the marriage procession came to Shirdi, it arrived at a Banyan tree in Bhagat Mhalsapati’s field near Khandoba’s temple. Bhagat Mhalsapati saw the Fakir getting down and said to Him “YA SAI” (Welcome Sai). Listening to that others also started addressing the fakir as Sai and hence-forth he became known as “Sai Baba”

Miracle of Sai Bab Lighting lamps (diya) with water

Sai Baba was always fond of lighting lamps (diyas) in the Masjid and other Temples. But the oil used to light those lamps were given by the shopkeepers of Shirdi out of generosity. He had made it a daily ritual to light earthenware lamps in the masjid every evening and he would call on the grocers for small donations. Suddenly there was a day when the grocers got fed up with giving free oil to Sai Baba and they refused to oblige him, saying they had no fresh stocks. Sai Baba returned to the masjid empty-handed. Sai poured water into the lamps instead of oil and lighted the wicks. Surprisingly the lamp continued to burn throughout the whole night. The grocers came to know about this incident and went to visit Sai baba to ask for an apology. Sai Baba pardoned them, but he warned them to not lie again. This is one of the exceptional miracles of Sai Baba.

Miracle of Sai Baba Stopping the rain

A long time ago, A man named Rao Bahadur Moreshwar Pradhan had come to Shirdi along with his wife to receive blessings from Sai Baba. As it was the time for the couple to leave, it began to rain heavily. It started thundering and lighting. The couple began to get worried and stressed, that’s when Sai Baba prayed, “Oh Allah!” he intoned, “let the rains cease. My children are going home. Let them go peacefully!” The storm immediately calmed down, The heavy rain reduced to a slight drizzle and the couple was able to reach their home safely.

Miracle of Sai Baba of ending the epidemic of Cholera

Once upon a time in Shirdi, there began an epidemic of Cholera. The villagers felt helpless and approached Sai baba for comfort. After hearing this baba washed his hands and took some wheat and started grinding it in a hand mill. Once he was done with it he asked the villagers and his devotees to take the wheat flour and throw it on the borders of the village. The villagers did as baba said and in no time the cholera epidemic had vanished away from the village and the people were safe and happy again.By grinding wheat here Sai Baba meant that, it was not only the wheat, but baba also ground the sins and miseries of his devotees and therefore cholera itself was ground to pieces and pushed out of the village.

Miracle of Saibaba of saving the fields

The intense hot Summer had begun in Shirdi and all the harvesting had been completed, the entire village had stored its food grains in the yard. One afternoon baba summoned Kondaji Sutar and told him, “Go to your field it’s on fire” Scared kondaji ran to his field, looked around but couldn’t spot the fire. He returned to the masjid at Sai baba and told baba he looked everywhere but couldn’t see any fire. Baba warned him again and said: “You better turn back and look again.” Kondaji turned back again to his field wondering why did baba frighten him? But Baba was right as kondaji reached the field again he noticed a sheaf of corn was on fire and smoke was billowing from it. The fire began to spread with a hit of the strong wind and the other villagers worried and approached baba for help and shouted ‘Sai baba help us put the fire out’ Sai Baba walked towards the yard, sprinkled some water on a stack of sheaves, and said: “There now! The fire will die down!” And the burning stopped as the fire had extinguished!

Miracles of Saibaba Raising the well water level

During Ram Navami Fair the villagers wanted to celebrate, but the main problem faced was the supply of water. So, the villagers went to Sai baba to seek help and baba asked them, So, you want plenty of water? Come here take this and drop it in the well which was dried up a long time ago. Baba gave them a plate filled with flowers and some prasad. They had full faith in Sai Baba and did as he said. They went and dropped it in the well and within no time the water in the well began to rise from the bottom and filled it and the villagers were happy again.

Das Ganu (one of Sai Devotee) once had an unforgettable experience of his life with Sai Baba. On a festive day, Das Ganu wanted to go to a place called Singba which is on the banks of the Godavari to have a holy water Bath therefore he asked baba. But Baba replied ‘No’ and said, ‘Why do you want to go to the Godavari when the Godavari is right here at my feet? Das Ganu’s faith in Sai Baba was not deep enough and he couldn’t believe that the waters of the Godavari could spring form the feet of Sai Baba his master That’s when baba decided that this is the time to strengthen his belief. Sai told Das Ganu, ‘Come here and hold my feet with your palms’. As soon as he did the water began to flow in his palm from Baba’s feet. Das Ganu was happily surprised by this miracle and sprinkled the water on his head and body and distributed among the devotees around as ‘Tirtha’ (Holy water)

Other Miracles

Some many wonders and miracles kept happening around Sai Baba. His devotees often saw him stirring some hot concoction over the kitchen fire, not with a spoon but with his bare hands. But there was never a time when his hand was hurt or wounded. Sai baba has conducted many miracles such as stopping the rain and the winds to cease, helping others.
